Dr. Berislav V. Zlokovic studies the role of cerebral blood vessels in the pathogenesis and treatment of neurological disorders, including Alzheimer’s disease.

Dr. Zlokovic has utilized the Choi Family Screening Facility in his research on genes that influence the risk for Alzheimer’s disease, particularly how these genes affect the cerebrovascular system. In particular, using the machines at the Choi Family Therapeutic Screening Facility, his group identified a small drug lead to repair “leaking” blood vessels in the brain, a problem in Alzheimer’s disease patients.
