Dr. Jae U. Jung is an expert in the molecular biology of viruses and how they can cause cancer and other human diseases. Studies of these viruses lead him to branch out his research into diverse areas, such as neurological disease, cancer and diabetes.

Using the Choi Family Therapeutic Screening Facility, Dr. Jung’s lab identified small molecules that affect proteins that transport glucose into the cell. These small molecules can become potential drugs to treat diabetes.
